I am sure other artist or critics could make valuable remarks about my drawing. I  have been drawing for years and I have not had a formal training. I draw by what I feel. The emotion of the heart. I do try very hard to use correct anatomy and perspective.  I try to use good design and layout for my composition. I do not complete the entire drawing for a reason. I want the viewer to look and finish those areas that are open for themselves. You might call it an interactive way of viewing. This idea needs to be worked more. In some drawings it works well adding to the emotion or drama of the idea.
In the following drawings I was wanting to do one things. To express my heart and emotion  What I feel for the Love of my life. There are drawing mistakes in  construction perspective and shading but the overall idea and feeling works.
Bed of Roses

There is much I like about this drawing. For me it captures her expression and there is life her eyes. When I was shooting picture of her laying down I saw this at that moment. Her beauty surrounded by flowers. I had always given her white roses. It is our Love of nature that I decided to use the white rose among other reasons. I could have put more in the drawing but I felt less was more.

A Breath Away

I was after that moment just before a kiss. When you are so close and everything between you is shared without words
Eyes meet and the many warm moments shared flows in your heart.
I wanted to use the idea of light and dark. For me She is Spring, light, warm, fresh and always in bloom, I represent the dark. In shadows discovering her warmth and wanting to step out of the  dark into her light. Embraced together where  everything is possible.
The difficulty in this drawing is that you are focused on the light and you may lose sight of the embrace. You can see the figures of me but you may not understand that her arm is around my neck. I may have made the focus to close.
The Many Faces of My Love Haruna
The reason for my journey to Japan. The reason for my life. This is a pencil drawing of different moments I remember.
I am happy with many of these but because of the angle some are not quite what I wanted to achieve. I feel that they all look like her, but they could be better. I was after her expression.

Character of Age

Youth has its beauty , smooth tones, elegance and grace. As we age these traits change and become the marks of our life. Gone are the smooth tones , replaced by work, a lifetime of experience. Our elegance remains but is wiser in its appearance. Many do not do manual labor but these drawings or of those that do not sit behind a desk and order people to work these are those that work.

Years of toil in the fields. Growing from the earth.Even he has that woren look of time spent in the earth, Hands are worn, and face has a look of seeing beyond the desk.

Some sit upon the streets and watch and are seldom seen by those that say they rule the world. A good smoke and a look forward can be all one gets

A character near the wharf

Hands no matter what age can show much, Full of character and possibility

Female Form

The female, woman is to me the best for delicate, expressive emotion. I do not take anything away from the male form but a woman has a magical quality about her looks. The hair, expression is more open. More expressive. She can be strong , tender, wild and crazy. To me she is able to demonstrate all the emotion without fear. But this is just my opinion.

Marie is the third in a series of drawings of her. This is the best in my view if her. I tried ti capture the youth and sensual look. Her lips seem larger but then she has that look about her. The long hair and smile just stand out with her.

Justine is one of my favorites. I like the look of it the playful quality.

Susan who carries that sensual quality at all times. The pose was to enhance that feel and look. A kind of light teasing quality without revealing to much.

Cassandra is my favorite drawing, Everything seemed to fall into place while drawing. I had little difficulty is do this drawing. The picture I worked from was of her the moment after changing a light bulb coming down from a chair. Their was something about the look of her that gave me this idea to draw.

Jazz Musicians

This is an earlier drawing when I was working out the style I draw in these days. Cloth is always something I like to draw and it adds good detail to the design and feel of the drawing. the shading behind all the drawings is to ground them and add more to the effect.

The look of the musician is what got me to draw him.

Jazz musician are always good subject to draw. Capturing the feel and emotion between sets or maybe while rehearsing. Their emotion is part of their music as they play
